Account Settings
To get to your account settings:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap
Settings.
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click
Settings.
- Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
Settings in the top left.
From there, you can:
Notifications
We may send notifications for several reasons, including when someone:
- Follows you
- Likes or comments on one of your photos or videos
- Mentions you in a comment
- Sends you a message
- Goes live or posts an IGTV video

You can choose to get push notifications when someone likes or comments on your post. If you have notifications turned on, you can also choose accounts that you want to receive notifications about. To turn push notifications on or off:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap
Settings.
- Tap Notifications and adjust your settings.
- Tap
in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap Notifications.
- Tap
next to Off or On for the notification type you want to manage.
To receive notifications about specific accounts that you follow:
- Go to the profile or that account.
- Tap Following, then tap Notifications.
- Tap
next to the feature that you want to turn on notifications for.

If you've added multiple Instagram accounts, you may get push notifications from any account that has them turned on. This depends on when you last logged in and the number of devices that are logged in to an account.
To quickly see the number of notifications for each account you've added on the Instagram app, go to your profile and tap your username at the top.

Adding Accounts
When you add multiple Instagram accounts, you can switch between them without having to log out and log back in.
To add multiple Instagram accounts
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap
Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Add Account.
- Enter the username and password of the account you'd like to add.
- Tap Log In.
- Tap
in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap Switch Accounts.
- Tap Add Account, then tap Log in with Instagram.
- Enter the username and password of the account you'd like to add.
- Tap Log In.
To switch between accounts you've added
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap your username at the top of the screen.
- Tap the account you'd like to switch to.
Keep in mind that you can add up to 5 accounts.
- Tap
in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap Switch Accounts.
- Tap the account you'd like to switch to.
You can only be logged into a single Instagram account at a time, but your device can store login information for multiple Instagram accounts. You can add or remove login information from your Instagram app settings.
To add or remove Instagram login information on your iPhone or Android device:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap
Settings.
- Scroll down to Logins.
- Tap Add account to add login information for a new Instagram account or Log out [username] to remove login information for the Instagram account you're currently logged into.
Note: Removing login information only removes the account from your iPhone or Android device and will not temporarily disable or permanently delete the Instagram account.

Photo Saving
You can save photos that you've filtered and edited on Instagram to your phone. To save your photos to your phone:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap
Settings.
- Tap Account, then tap Original Photos (iPhone) or Original Posts (Android).
- Tap next to Save Original Photos (iPhone) or Save Original Posts (Android) to turn it on.
When you have Save Original Photos or Save Original Posts turned on, every photo you post on Instagram will also be saved to your phone's library.
Note: People using Instagram on Android may see a delay in photos appearing in their phone’s Instagram photo album.
Language Settings
To change the language you use in the Instagram app, you can adjust your language settings:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap
Settings.
- Tap Account > Language.
- Choose the language you'd like to use.
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click
Profile.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Click Language at the very bottom of the page and select a new language.
- Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
Settings in the top left.
- Tap Language.
- Select a language.
- Tap Done (iPhone).
Additional Settings
To adjust your device's Android settings for Instagram:
- Open your phone's settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Scroll down and tap Instagram.
You'll see the option to uninstall the app and remove Instagram from your phone. You can also clear your cache and data (reset all of the memory on your phone), adjust notifications, and change the default setting for the app.
This feature may be unavailable for countries located in Europe.
To turn location services on or off:
- Leave the Instagram app and go to your iPhone's Settings.
- Tap Privacy, then tap Location Services.
- Scroll down and tap Instagram.
- Select Never or While Using the App to choose location access.
Instagram's default setting for location is off, but you can turn location on whenever you post a photo. You'll choose whether or not to allow Instagram access to your location.
