When you delete your Threads profile, your content, likes and followers will be permanently removed. If you'd just like to take a break, you can
temporarily deactivate your profile instead.
For security reasons, we can't delete a Threads profile for you. You’ll need to log into your profile to request deletion. Before deleting your profile, you may want to
download a copy of your information.
Delete your Threads profile
Note: Deleting your Threads profile won’t also delete your Instagram account. However,
deleting your Instagram account will also delete your Threads profile because it’s managed by your Instagram account.
To request the permanent deletion of your Threads profile:

or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.

- Tap
Account, then tap Deactivate or delete profile. - Tap Delete profile at the bottom.
- Follow the prompts, then tap Delete Threads profile.
Your profile, content, likes and followers will be permanently deleted 30 days after your request is submitted, and you’ll no longer be able to retrieve your information. During the 30-day period, the content of your profile remains subject to
Threads' Terms of Use and
Supplemental Privacy Policy and is not visible to other people using Threads.
You can cancel your Threads profile deletion request before the 30-day deadline by logging back into your Threads profile and then tapping Log in to confirm the cancellation. After canceling your profile deletion request, your profile and its content will be visible again on Threads.
Keep in mind
- After your Threads profile is deleted, you will have to wait 90 days before you can sign up again with the same Instagram account.
- If your account is removed for violating Community Guidelines, you may not be able to sign up again with the same Instagram account.
- It may take up to 90 days to complete the deletion process after it begins. Copies of your content may remain after the 90 days in backup storage that we use to recover in the event of a disaster, software error, or other data loss event. We may also keep your information for things like legal issues, terms violations, or harm prevention efforts. Learn more about this in our Privacy Policy.
