How sharing to the fediverse on Threads impacts your privacy
Our Beta experience for sharing to the fediverse is currently only available to Threads profiles in certain areas.

When someone turns on sharing to the fediverse, users on other servers can search for and follow their Threads profile, view their Threads posts, and interact with and share their Threads content with anyone on or off another fediverse server. Learn more about Threads and the fediverse.
When you turn on sharing to the fediverse on Threads, your Threads profile and content you post on Threads will be shared with users on other servers not controlled or moderated by Meta. Those users will be able to:
  • View posts you share on Threads, if the post’s format is supported and doesn’t limit who can reply to it
  • Search, find, and follow your Threads profile
  • Reshare your Threads posts with anyone on or off their server
  • Interact with your Threads posts (examples: comment, like)
If you delete a post on Threads, we will request that other servers delete the post from their servers. We cannot guarantee that they will delete your post and it may remain publicly visible despite your decision to delete it.
Similarly, if you turn off sharing to the fediverse, delete your Threads profile, or deactivate your Threads profile, we will request that other servers delete your profile and content. We cannot guarantee that they will delete your information and it may remain publicly visible.
