- In an existing conversation, tap Message… at the bottom.
- Enter “@” and then tap Meta AI.
- Enter your question or request for Meta AI, then tap next to your message. Note: Be mindful before including any personal information in your message (examples: name, address, email, or phone number).
- Your question and Meta AI’s response will be sent as messages in the chat.
Note that others in your chat will be able to see your message to Meta AI, as well as Meta AI’s response.
Meta AI can only read messages sent to “@Meta AI”. This means that your other messages in the chat, where Meta AI isn’t
mentioned, are private and won’t be viewed by Meta AI.
To ask Meta AI another question or to reply to its response, you can tap and hold a message from Meta AI and then tap Reply. Any message for Meta AI, such as a reply to Meta AI or a follow-up question, must be directed to Meta AI for it to respond. (Example: “@Meta AI can you clarify that?”)
With the use of commands, you can ask Meta AI to provide more details on your conversations with AIs and perform certain tasks, such as deleting information about you from a conversation. To use a command, send the command as a message in the chat. Learn more

Some commands include:
- /ai-options: Lists the available commands.
- /imagine: Generates an image based on your text prompt. Once the image is sent, you and others in your chat can tap and hold on the image, then tap Reimagine to submit another prompt to change the image.
To animate an image that Meta AI generates, tap and hold the image, tap Reply and enter “animate” after the auto-populated mention of Meta AI. Meta AI will generate an animated version of the image.
