Recommendation eligibility on Instagram
We make recommendations on Instagram to help people discover new communities and content from accounts they don’t already follow. When your posts are recommended on Instagram, they can show up in places like Explore, Reels and Feed Recommendations to people who don’t already follow you.
Our Recommendations Guidelines help us decide what content from public accounts is eligible to be recommended on Instagram. If you’re using a professional account, you can see if your content may be eligible to be recommended in Account Status. If you’re eligible, it means Instagram may recommend your account or content on Reels, Feed, Explore, Search or Suggested Accounts to people who don’t follow you.
Note that your eligibility for recommendations doesn’t guarantee that your content will be recommended.

In Account Status you can:
- See if your content may be eligible to be recommended to people who don’t follow you in places like Explore, Search, Suggested Accounts, Reels and Feed Recommendations.
- See if something in your profile (like your profile photo or bio) goes against our Recommendations Guidelines.
- See if your content can’t be recommended right now. From here you can view a sample of the content (like a post or reel) you posted that goes against our Recommendations Guidelines and learn more about which guideline applies to your content.
- View any content that has been removed for going against our Community Guidelines.
- Edit or remove content that goes against our Recommendations Guidelines, or request a review of our decision.
- Learn more about our Recommendations Guidelines and our Community Guidelines.
If your account is not eligible to be recommended, none of your content will be recommended regardless of whether or not all of your content goes against our Recommendations Guidelines. Note that these guidelines only apply to public accounts and recommendations to people who don’t follow you. Even if you’re not eligible to be recommended, your content can still show up for your followers.
