How to create a reminder ad in Ads Manager
This feature is slowly rolling out and may not be available to you yet.
Reminder ads allow people on Instagram to connect with, keep track of and engage with the moments and events that matter to them. You can create a reminder ad in Meta Ads Manager. Learn more about reminder ads.
Before you begin
How to create a reminder ad
To create a reminder ad in Ads Manager:
  1. Go to Ads Manager.
  2. Select Create.
  3. Select Engagement or Awareness as your objective.
    • If you select Engagement, choose On Your Ad as the conversion location, Video views or Reminders set as your engagement type and Maximize Thruplay views or Maximize reminders set as the optimization goal.
    • If you select Awareness, choose Maximize reach of ads or Maximize Thruplay views as your performance goals.
    • Note: If you select Maximize reminders set, Instagram Feed, Instagram Stories and Instagram Reels will be the only available placements. If you select the other optimization goals, you can select any placement but reminders will only appear on Instagram Feed, Instagram Stories and Instagram Reels.
  4. Select Reminders set as the engagement type.
  5. Choose Maximize reminders set as your performance goal.
    • Note: Maximize reminders set shows your ad to people more likely to set reminders.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Fill in the details for your ad set:
    • At the Schedule section, ensure that your ad ends 1 hour before your event or launch.
    • At the Placements section, choose Advantage+ or Manual placements.
      • Note: If maximizing Reminders set, Instagram Feed, Instagram Stories and Instagram Reels are the only placements supported at this time.
  8. Select Continue.
  9. Fill in the details for your ad:
  10. Select Create ad.
  11. Select Add media or Create video.
  12. In the call-to-action section, choose your preferred call-to-action from the available options and add a website URL that will direct people who set reminders.
    • Note: If maximizing reminders set, Remind me will be selected and you can add a website URL and select a call-to-action under Destination.
  13. Select from previously created events or create a new event.
    • If selecting from a previously created event, please select the correct event from the ones that are available.
    • If creating a new event, type your event's name and select your event's start date and start time. You'll also choose when you would like reminders to be delivered. Selecting the end date and end time are optional.
      Note: The event start date and time determine when push notifications are triggered, not the ad campaign's start and end date. People will receive reminders 1 day before and at the event's start time. You can choose whether the additional reminder delivers 15 minutes before or 1-7 days after the event's start time.
  14. Add a website URL to direct people who set reminders to the right destination.
  15. Select Publish.
Once you've created your ad, it will be reviewed by Meta and you'll be notified when it's been approved. Learn how to view results for a reminder ad in Ads Manager once your ad runs.
How to edit your event’s date or time
  1. Go to Ads Manager.
  2. Select your reminder ad campaign.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. On the Ad Creative step, edit your event’s start date and time.
Note: Updating the event date and time will also update when push notifications are sent to people who've opted in to receiving reminders. If multiple reminder ads use the same event, start date and time will be updated across all ads.
