About Meta Ad Account Options for Ads on Instagram
Starting February 2024, an Apple service charge of 30% of your total payment amount, before any applicable taxes, may apply when you boost in the Instagram iOS app. This fee is retained by Apple, not Instagram or Meta. Learn more about avoiding Apple service charges when boosting on Instagram.
When you boost on Instagram, you have two options for your ad account. You can boost
  1. With a Meta ad account
  2. Without a Meta ad account
You can learn more about the details and instructions for these two ad account options below:
Boost with a Meta Ad Account
When you boost on Instagram, it is recommended choosing to boost with your ad account. Note that you’ll need to login to Facebook in order to boost with your ad account.
If you choose to boost with your ad account, your Facebook payment method and ad settings will automatically be saved to your Instagram account. You’ll no longer have to enter your payment method and ad settings each time you create ads on Instagram. You’ll also be able to access other features of your ad account, such as your saved audiences. Note that anyone who can login to your Instagram account can use your ad account for ads and will have access to your payment information.
How your information is used across Facebook and Instagram:
  • If you’ve added accounts to the same Accounts Center, your information from Facebook will still be used for purposes beyond boosting on Instagram, such as suggesting friends and cross-posting between apps. Learn more about how your information may be used across accounts.
  • If you haven’t added accounts to the same Accounts Center, your information from Facebook will be used for the purpose of boosting on Instagram (in addition to the purposes described in Facebook’s Data Policy).
    • Note that your credentials will expire after approximately one hour.

Once you've connected your Instagram and Meta ad accounts, you'll have the option to confirm or change your payment details each time you boost on Instagram.
Boost without a Meta Ad Account
If you don’t want to connect your Instagram account to your ad account, you can keep a separate ad account on Instagram. If you select this option, you’ll need to enter your payment information the first time you boost on Instagram. You also won’t have access to some beneficial features and settings of your Ads Manager account, such as your saved audiences.
Below Create ad you can tap Without an ad account. Then, you can create your ad as usual.
