About Ads on Instagram Reels Monetization
Monetizing ads in Instagram profile feed and Reels are currently being tested and are only available to a select group of accounts at this time.
Ads on Instagram Reels gives eligible creators a way to earn money when they allow ads to be placed on their reels. The more monetization-eligible plays you receive on your reels, the more you earn.
Instagram will place ads for creators, optimizing for the viewer experience. Ads show at the bottom of the reels content in the form of a single static banner.
Payouts for Ads on Instagram Reels
To start earning money through Ads on Instagram Reels, creators must agree to the terms and meet eligibility requirements, which include our Partner Monetization Policies.
The amount you earn is based on the number of monetization-eligible plays your reels receive, as solely determined by Meta. Multiple factors may determine whether a play is monetization eligible and how much it earns, including the location of the viewer or when the reel was published. The amount you earn per play also may change over time.
Some reels are not eligible to monetize with Ads on Reels, including (but not limited to):
  • Your reel includes licensed music.
  • Your reel is branded content.
  • Your reel is in a language that the bonus program does not support.
  • Your reel is boosted.
  • Your reel is shared in collaboration with another creator.
  • Your reel is watermarked with a third-party platform’s mark, name or logo.
  • Your reel receives engagement that appears inauthentic, for example, fraudulent views or artificially boosted views.
  • Your reel is permanently deleted. You may not get credit for the plays that reel received if you delete your reel.
  • Your reel is not advertiser-friendly.
Plays received on these reels will not contribute to earnings.
You can view your approximate earnings for each reel and for your account in your insights. You will receive monthly payouts, and be able to check payment history and change your payout account information anytime.
