Counterfeit Report Form

A counterfeit product is an unauthorised imitation or reproduction of a product bearing the trademark of the original rights owner. These products are intended to cause confusion as to the source, sponsorship and affiliation of the products and, as such, to commercially benefit from the trademark owner's reputation.

Please note that submitting a report of intellectual property infringement is a serious matter with legal consequences. Intentionally submitting misleading or otherwise fraudulent reports of trademark infringement may lead to Instagram taking action, including termination of your account.

Contact Information
Please note that a report alleging infringement or violation of legal rights must come from the rights owner or someone authorised to report on their behalf (e.g. an attorney or agent). If you are not the rights owner or their authorised representative, we will not be able to process your report. If you believe that others' rights may be infringed by content on the site, you may wish to ask them to review the intellectual property section of the Help Centre.

Please note that we regularly provide the rights owner's name, your email address and the nature of your report to the person who posted the content that you are reporting. This person may contact you using the information that you provide. You may wish to provide a valid generic business or professional email address for this reason.

Content that you want to report

Typically, Instagram accounts contain many individual photos, posts and other pieces of content, and we may not be able to remove the Instagram account you are reporting in its entirety. If you have not already done so, please provide the direct link (URL) to each specific piece of content that you believe infringes your trademark rights within this Instagram account. If you believe that this object is infringing in its entirety, you may continue with this report.

For us to process your report, we need to know what content you believe to be infringing or violating your rights and where the specific content is located on Instagram. The best way to help us locate the content is to provide us with links (URLs) or broadcast IDs for that material. Please note that we may not be able to locate the content without this information.
You can get a link to a photo or video by going to the post in the app and tapping "..." above it. From the menu that appears, select Copy link.
Alternatively, you can get a link to the post by viewing it on the web:
  1. Every Instagram account has a username, which you can find when visiting that account on the web or within the mobile app.
  2. Once you know the username of the account in which the content is located, open a web browser and go to
    • For example, if the username is "johnappleseed", go to
  3. Click on the photo(s) or video(s) you wish to report.
  4. For each photo or video, copy the URL (located at the top of the browser) and paste it into your report. Please see the image below for an example URL.

By submitting this notice, you state that you have a good-faith belief that the reported use described above, in the manner that you have complained of, is not authorised by the intellectual property rights owner, its agent or the law; that the information contained in this notice is accurate; and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the owner of the intellectual property rights at issue.

You must agree to the terms before submitting this form.

Please note that you will not be able to submit a report unless you are the rights owner or their authorised representative.
