About identifying as a Diverse-owned business on Instagram
This feature is currently available to Instagram business accounts that are using our Shops tools. You can view our requirements or sign up for Shops in Commerce Manager. You need to have the most updated version of the Instagram mobile app to use this feature.
By identifying your business as Diverse-owned, you’re opting in to features that could highlight your business to people who may be interested in supporting Diverse-owned businesses.
To identify your business as Diverse-owned on Instagram, you must have an Instagram business account and be using our new Shops tools. If your business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by individuals from a diverse category, you can add this information.
Note: Business diversity identification is only associated with an Instagram shop that has turned on the designation and will not be used to infer anyone’s race or ethnicity.

Diverse-owned categories

We offer the following diverse business categories. Shops may select more than one category:
  • Asian-owned
  • Black-owned
  • Disabled-owned
  • Latin-owned
  • Indigenous-owned
  • LGBTQ+ owned
  • Middle Eastern-owned
  • Pacific Islander-owned
  • Women-owned
  • Veteran-owned
Only the category that the shop selects first will be displayed as a label on the shop's profile and product pages.
