Hide posts you don’t want to see on Threads
There are a few ways you can hide posts you see on Threads that contain potentially offensive, misleading or spam content.
Manually hide replies to your post
To hide a reply directly to your post:
Threads app for Android and iPhone
  1. Tap more next to a reply.
  2. Tap Hide for everyone.
Hidden replies are moved to a covered section at the bottom of your thread. A reply that you have manually hidden is only visible to you and the person who wrote the reply. You can view hidden replies by scrolling to the bottom of a thread and tapping See all. From your hidden replies, you can unhide a reply by tapping more next to the reply and then tapping Unhide.
Automatically hide offensive content and spam
You can also choose to automatically hide replies and posts on Threads that don’t go against Instagram’s Community Guidelines, but may be inappropriate, disrespectful, or offensive (example: racial slurs, curse words or scams) by using Hidden Words settings. These settings include:
  • Custom words: You can add words, phrases, numbers and emojis that you do not want to see on Threads to a hidden words list. Posts on Threads that include items on your list will be filtered out of feed and will be covered in search results and on others’ profiles. Replies to your posts will be hidden under the Hidden replies cover at the bottom of your post. This setting is off by default, but you can change it and edit the list at any time. Note: your list of custom words and phrases is the same for Instagram and Threads.
  • Unwanted replies: Replies to your post that contain common words, phrases or emojis that may be offensive, misleading or spam will be automatically hidden. Hidden replies in your threads are moved to a covered section at the bottom of your thread. Others can still view these replies. This setting is on by default, but you can change it any time.
To manage hidden words from the Threads app:
  1. Tap profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap settings in the top right.
  3. Tap privacy settings Privacy, then tap hide Hidden Words.
  4. From here you can:
    • Tap select next to On or Off below a setting.
    • Tap Manage custom words and phrases and type the words, phrases or emoji you want to hide. Tap Add to add each custom word and phrase to your list.
Keep in mind that your Hidden Words settings only apply to posts that are posted after you turn on a setting or you’ve added words to your custom words and phrases list.
