Create ads that link to Instagram videos or Reels
Instagram In-stream video ads will no longer be available after March 21st, 2022.
In Meta Ads Manager, you can create Instagram ads with a call-to-action button that will link to your Instagram videos, Reels or audio page within the Instagram app.
Before you begin
  • You need to have an Instagram account with Instagram videos or Reels.
  • If you want to create an ad that links to a specific Instagram video or reel, that video should already be uploaded to your account.
Create ads that link to Instagram videos or Reels
To have your ad link to Instagram videos or Reels:
  1. Go to Ads Manager and select +Create.
  2. Select one of the following objectives for your ad:
    • Awareness
    • Traffic
    • Engagement. Select On your ad as your conversion location and video views or post engagement as your engagement type.
  3. Create your ad as usual, filling in details for your campaign, budget and schedule, audience, and optimization and delivery.
  4. When you get to the Placements options, select Automatic Placements.
    • If you select Manual Placements, make sure to include one or more Instagram Placements, such as Feed, Stories, Explore, Reels or Shop.
  5. When you get to the Ad creative section, you can copy and paste the Instagram video or Reels URL in the Website URL box.
    • If you’ve selected the awareness objective, check the box nex to Add a destination to access the Website URL box where you can paste your URL.
  6. To find your Instagram video or Reels URL, go to Instagram.com on your computer’s website browser. Then, go to your desktop profile and click on the Video or Reels tab.
    • If you want your ad to link to a single Instagram video or Reel, click on that video and then copy the URL from the address bar.
    • If you want your ad to link to your Instagram video or Reels tab, copy the URL from the address bar.
    • If you want your ad to link to an audio page, click on the Reel that uses the audio. Then, click on the title of the audio under the handle’s name. You’ll be taken to the audio page, from where you can copy the URL from the address bar.
  7. Now, paste the URL into the Website URL box in Ads Manager.
  8. Select a Call to action and finish creating your ad.
