Update the website domain for products in your catalog
Beginning on April 24, 2024, existing shops in the US without the checkout method On Facebook and Instagram enabled will no longer be supported. Learn more.
In order to use shops on Instagram, the products you tag must direct to checkout on Instagram or to a single, primary domain that you own which has the products available for direct purchase. This means the URLs for all products in your catalog must link to your own branded website. For example, if your domain is jaspersmarket.com, product links in your catalog must be on that domain, such as http://www.jaspersmarket.com/striped-shirt-12345. Subdomains and regional domains are supported.
If your product links go to a different domain, you won't be able to tag those products. To fix the issue, you can update their product links in your catalog to go to your primary domain.
Note: Your website domain must be submitted for review and approved before you can tag products.
Update the website domain for products in your catalog
To update the website domain for products in your catalog to your primary domain:
  1. Go to your catalog in Commerce Manager or on the partner platform you use.
  2. Update the links for your products to be from your primary domain. Remember that links must start with http:// or https:// and direct customers to the product page for that specific item on your website. There are several ways to update your product links, depending on the way you manage products in your catalog:
    • Update your data feed: If you use a data feed to manage your catalog items, edit your data feed. Check the link field in your data feed and change any links that don't go to your primary domain.
    • Edit items manually: If you added items to your catalog manually, you can edit them manually. Change the links for any items that don't go your primary domain.
    • Use a partner platform: If you host products on a partner platform such as Shopify, you’ll need to edit your product links on that platform. Any changes will sync automatically to your catalog in Commerce Manager.
