About teen supervision on Instagram
To supervise your teen's time spent on Instagram, you and your teen must have already set up supervision.
If supervision is set up, you can visit Family Center to do the following:
  • View how much time your teen has spent on Instagram in the last 7 days. If Instagram is used on multiple devices, you'll see the total time spent using Instagram. You can see both an average amount of time spent per day and see how much time was spent on each specific day.
  • Set a daily time limit for how long your teen can use Instagram. If Instagram is used on multiple devices, time limits apply to the total time spent using Instagram.
  • Set scheduled breaks for your teen. During a scheduled break, your teen will be blocked from using Instagram. If Instagram is used on multiple devices, a scheduled break will apply to all devices.
Note: Supervision features require the latest version of the Instagram app for iPhone and Android. The teen must update the Instagram app. The parent must either update the Instagram app, or visit www.instagram.com using a desktop or mobile browser. If some features of supervision aren't working appropriately, update the Instagram app.
Daily Time Limits
Once your teen has reached the daily time limit you set, they will no longer be able to use Instagram on any device until the next day. Your teen will still be able to access their Settings if they've reached the time limit.
Your teen will be notified when you set or change a time limit.
To set up or change a time limit for your teen:
  1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap settings at the top.
  3. Tap Supervision.
  4. Under Accounts, tap on your teen's account.

Requests for more time

  1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
