How to promote your Instagram Subscription

Instagram Subscriptions allow you to monetize by offering exclusive content and benefits to your most engaged followers at a monthly fee.
After you set up Subscriptions on Instagram, promote your Subscription with these tips to engage with your subscribers. You’ll also earn a Subscription badge when you gain your first 5 subscribers. You can track your progress and view your badge by tapping Professional dashboard, then tapping Achievements under Your tools.
How to promote your Subscription in your stories
Subscription stickers
You can add a Subscription sticker to your story to promote your Subscription to your followers. When someone taps on the Subscription sticker on your story, they’ll see your subscriber benefits and can tap the Subscribe button if they haven’t subscribed to you yet. Your subscribers can also tap this sticker to manage their Subscription.
To add a Subscription sticker to your story:
  1. Once you’ve created your story, tap stickers at the top.
  2. Tap on the Subscription sticker that’s marked with a crown . Note: You can use the Subscription sticker in combination with other story stickers to create an engaging way to invite viewers to subscribe to you.
Stories teasers
Stories teasers allow non-subscriber viewers to subscribe directly from your story. Stories teasers are automatically turned on and will show at the end of your story when you’ve posted subscriber-only content.
If you’d like to opt out, you can easily turn it off with these steps:
  1. On the Instagram app, go to your profile.
  2. Tap Professional dashboard.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Under Manage, tap Content settings.
  5. Toggle off Allow exclusive story preview.
Note: Your fans can also mute your stories teaser if they don’t want to see them by tapping on the 3 dots more actions on the top right corner of your story, then tapping Mute exclusive story promos.
How to promote your Subscription in your posts and reels
You can add a Subscribe button to your posts and reels, in addition to adding it on your profile, with these steps:
  1. On the Instagram app, go to your profile.
  2. Tap Professional dashboard.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Under Manage, tap Content settings.
  5. Toggle on Add subscribe button.
The Subscribe button will replace the Follow button on your posts and reels for people who follow you.
How to create a Subscription Preview
A Subscription preview lets you make some of your exclusive, subscription-only content visible to everyone and encourage more people to subscribe. Your previewed content will also show when a follower starts to subscribe, along with their friends who are subscribed to you.
You can add up to 3 exclusive posts or reels to your Subscription Preview from your settings, or by tapping on a subscriber-only post or reel on your profile or Subscription tab.
Note: Creating a preview from your settings allows you to select up to 3 exclusive posts or reels at the same time, while selecting the content from your profile or Subscription tab must be done one at a time.
Create a Subscription Preview from your settings
  1. In the Instagram app, go to your profile.
  2. Tap more options in the top right.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Below Manage, tap Subscription preview.
  5. Select up to 3 exclusive posts or reels to add to your preview.
  6. Tap Save.

  1. On your Instagram profile, tap the Subscription tab.
  2. Find the exclusive post or reel that you want to add to your subscription preview.
  3. Tap and hold the post or reel to open a menu.
  4. Tap Add to subscription preview.
  5. Tap Add to preview to confirm.
Create a Subscription Preview from your profile grid
  1. In your Instagram profile grid, tap an exclusive post or reel that you want to add to your subscription preview.
  2. Tap the 3 dots more actions
  3. Tap Add to subscription preview.
After you add a post or reel to your Subscription Preview, that content is marked with an unlock icon lock in your profile grid. The order your content appears won’t change.
How to change your Subscription Preview
You can replace the content in your Subscription Preview by selecting another post or reel or removing it from your preview.
Note: The oldest content in your preview will be replaced by your newest selection. Replacing or removing preview content can be done in the same way a preview is created.
Change your Subscription Preview from the Subscription tab
  1. On your Instagram profile, tap the Subscription tab.
  2. Select the content that you want to remove from your Subscription Preview.
  3. Tap and hold the exclusive post or reel to open a menu.
  4. Tap Remove from subscription preview.
Change your Subscription Preview from your profile grid
  1. In your Instagram profile grid, select the exclusive post or reel that you want to remove from your Subscription Preview.
  2. Tap the More menu more actions.
  3. Tap Remove from subscription preview.
How to add Promo and Welcome Reels
You can create a promo reel to encourage your most engaged followers to subscribe, when you set up Subscriptions. You can also create a welcome reel to thank your newest subscribers.
Promo reels will appear in your followers’ feed, and welcome reels can be shared with subscribers in your stories. For new followers who subscribe, they will receive a welcome reel automatically. Note: While promo reels are visible to everyone, welcome reels are only available to subscribers.
Add Promo and Welcome Reels during onboarding
Once you set up Subscriptions, you will be prompted to create a promo reel and a welcome reel. Tapping on either option will take you to the reels creation view where you will be able to share a reel that’s 1-minute-or-less.

You will see an option to create a promo reel and another option to create a welcome reel. Tapping on either option will take you to the Reels creation view where you will be prompted to share a reel.
Add a Promo and Welcome Reel while creating a new reel
If you have started a Subscription, you will see the option to save a reel as either a promo or welcome reel in Advanced settings. From here, you’ll be able to toggle on or off if you want your reel to be a promo and welcome reel.
You can return to your Subscriptions settings to replace the promo/welcome reel at any time. Alternatively, you can change the reels you create at any time in Advanced settings for your reels.
