Use a template to create an Instagram reel
Note that templates are only available for reels that include music and at least 3 clips.
You can create your own version of an Instagram reel by using a template. Templates allow you to use the same music and timing as the original reel, and replace the photos or video clips with your own.
You can find templates and save your favorite templates in the Template Browser.
Create a reel with a template
  1. Tap create new at the bottom or swipe right anywhere in Feed.
  2. Tap Reel at the bottom, then tap the image in the bottom left to open your gallery.
  3. Tap Templates.
  4. Swipe through the available templates and tap one you’d like to use.
  5. Tap Add media, then tap the photos or videos in the order you’d like them to appear.
  6. Tap Next.
  7. If you need to change any of your clips, tap the clip and then tap Replace media. Tap the photo or video you’d like to use instead.
  8. Tap Next to preview and share your reel.
You can also use a reel you see as a template by tapping Template by... then tap Use Template. Not all reels can be used as a template.
