Check your Account Status on Instagram
Account Status is a way to find out if you’ve posted something that goes against our Community Guidelines and if it may lead to account restrictions and limitations, such as certain features on Instagram you can no longer use, or your account being taken down.
You can review our Community Guidelines and learn more about why your content was removed and how it can affect your access to your account using Account Status.
How to check your Account Status
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right.
- Below More info and support, tap Account Status
Account Status for professional accountsIf you have a professional account, you can also use Account Status to see if you’ve recently or repeatedly posted content or have something on your profile (like your profile photo or bio) that goes against our Recommendations Guidelines.
Our Recommendations Guidelines help us decide which public accounts’ content may be eligible to be recommended in places like Explore, Reels and Feed Recommendations to people who don’t already follow you. Learn more about recommendation eligibility on Instagram.
Once you’ve followed the steps above to view your Account Status:
- Tap Community Guidelines to view any content that has been removed for violating these guidelines and request a review if you disagree.
- Tap Recommendations Guidelines to see if your content or something on your profile may be impacting the eligibility of all your content to be recommended to people who don’t follow you. From here, tap Edit or remove content if you’d like to make changes.
- If you don’t think this content goes against our Recommendations Guidelines, tap Disagree with decision and our review team will take another look.
By checking your Account Status, you’ll be able to:
- View any content (like posts, stories, or comments) that has been removed from your account for going against our Community Guidelines and may lead to your account being taken down by selecting Removed content.
- View certain features on Instagram that you can no longer use and take action to resolve the issue, such as appealing content that was removed for going against our Community Guidelines or not following our Terms of Use, by selecting Features you can’t use.
- Request a review of our decision to remove your content if you don’t think Instagram should have taken down your content by selecting Request a review.
If you repeatedly post content that is removed for going against our Community Guidelines, you may lose access to your account. Note: In most cases, you’ll get a warning before losing access to your account.
