See my teen’s shared connections on Instagram
If you supervise your teen’s account on Instagram, you can visit Family Center to see the number of shared connections for each account your teen is following and each account your teen is followed by. A shared connection can be either of the following:
- An account your teen follows who is also following another account your teen follows.
- An account your teen follows who is also following an account who follows your teen.
For example, your teen, whose username is stellas_gr00v3, follows two accounts: e.manny.well.52 and lil_wyatt838. One of them, e.manny.well.52, also follows lil_wyatt838. This means that the user e.manny.well.52 is your teen’s shared connection with lil_wyatt838.
If you’re a teen who is supervised by a parent, you can also see what your parent sees and view your own shared connections.
Viewing shared connections as a parent
To view your teen’s shared connections:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right.
- Below For families, tap Supervision.
- Under Accounts, tap on your teen’s account.
- Under Followers and following, tap See more.
- Tap the Following or Followers.
- Scroll down to view the profiles your teen is following or that are following your teen. The number of shared connections will be under the username and name of a connection.
You can tap on any of the accounts on these lists to see their Instagram profile. Keep in mind that some Instagram accounts are private, so you will not be able to see a private account’s posts unless you also follow that account.
Viewing shared connections as a teen
- Tap
- Tap
- Below For families, tap Supervision.
- Tap View what they can see.
- Tap See more.
- Tap the Following or Followers tab.
- Scroll down to view the profiles you are following or that are following you. The number of shared connections will be under the username and name of a connection.
