Create Instagram ads that deliver to Facebook
This feature is only available on the Instagram mobile app.
This feature is slowly rolling out to specific countries and may not be available to all advertisers yet.
Certain Messaging-related metrics, ad campaigns, and organic messaging features for businesses and ads delivered to and from Europe and Japan will be unavailable.
You can now create ads that deliver to Instagram and Facebook directly on the Instagram app. By selecting certain goals when you boost your Instagram post, you can enable it to deliver to Facebook placements as well.
Before you begin
  • You’ll need
    • an Instagram business or creator account
    • a Facebook personal account
    • a Facebook Page.
  • You’ll need to create either a Click to WhatsApp ad or Lead ad if you’d like your ad to deliver to Facebook.
Create Instagram ads that deliver to Facebook
To create Instagram ads that deliver to Facebook:
  1. Go to your profile.
  2. Tap the post you’d like to boost.
  3. Below the post, tap Boost Post.
  4. Under Goal, you have three options:
    1. To create a Click to WhatsApp ad:
      1. Select More Messages.
      2. Tap Choose a messaging app.
      3. Select WhatsApp.
    2. To create a Lead ad:
      1. Select More Messages.
      2. Select More Leads. Note: This ad type may not be available to you right now.
    3. To create a Click to Instagram Chats ad:
      1. Select More Messages.
      2. The Facebook placement will be toggled on by default. Note: This ad type may not be available to you right now.
  5. Under Audience, tap to toggle on Allow Facebook placement.
  6. Continue creating your ad as usual, filling in details for Audience (who you want to reach), Budget (how much you want to spend daily) and Duration (how long you want your ad to run). Tap Next once you've completed these details.
  7. To complete your ad, tap Boost post under Review.
Once you've tapped Boost post, your ad will be submitted for review to make sure it meets our ad policies. Your ad will begin running after it's been reviewed and approved.
Available insights for Instagram ads that deliver to Facebook
  • When you create Instagram ads that deliver to Facebook, ad impressions insights won’t be available.
  • People reached, Ad taps and your Ad goal (Leads or Messages) include data from both Instagram and Facebook placements of your ad.
  • Some metrics may also be currently unavailable due to a lack of data to provide a value.
