Start and manage calls on Instagram
You can start an audio or video call with up to 8 people on Instagram.
Start a call
To begin an audio or video call on Instagram:
- Tap
or
in the top right of Feed.
- Tap on an existing chat or start a new conversation.
- From your chat, you can:
- Tap
in the top right to start an audio call.
- Tap
in the top right to start a video call.
- Tap
The person or group you call will receive a notification that you're calling them.
Keep in mind that anyone you've accepted a message from, except for verified accounts, can video call with you. To prevent someone from video calling with you, you can block them.
Manage a call
While on an audio or video call, you can:
- Add people. Tap
and then tap Invite next to People to add others to your call. The people you've added will receive a notification that you're calling them.
- Switch cameras. For video calls, tap
at the bottom or tap your video twice to switch between the front or back-facing camera.
- Browse Instagram. Tap
to make your call appear in a small frame on your device. You can continue to use Instagram as you usually would.
- Share a link to your call. Tap
- End a video call. Tap
in the top right to end your call.
