Tag people in your posts on Instagram
There are two ways to tag people in a post you share on Instagram. Keep in mind that you can't tag people in someone else's post.
Tag people before sharing a post
To tag someone before sharing a photo, reel or carousel:
  1. Before sharing a post, tap Tag People.
  2. Tap someone in the photo.
  3. Enter their name or username, then tap their name from the menu.
  4. Tap Save in the top right.
Tag people after sharing a post
To tag someone in a photo or video you've already shared:
  1. Tap profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Go to the post, then tap in the top right.
  3. Tap Edit.
  4. Tap Tag People, then tap on someone in the post.
  5. Enter their name or username, then tap on their name from the menu.
  6. Tap Save in the top right, then tap Save again to confirm.
Keep in mind that if your account is private, you can only tag your followers. You can choose to make your account private and can manage other privacy in settings at any time.
Note that if you're tagging someone that is set up as a creator or business account, you can also include their profile category by tapping Tag Category below their name.
If you're not able to tag someone, they may have changed who can tag them in their privacy settings.
