In most countries, copyright is a legal right that protects original works of authorship, such as books, music, film and art. Generally, things like names, titles, slogans or short phrases aren't considered to be original enough for copyright protection. Copyright also doesn’t generally protect facts or ideas, but it may protect the original words or images that express a fact or idea. For more information on copyright, visit the copyright section of our Help Center.
Please note that submitting a report of intellectual property infringement is a serious matter with legal consequences. Intentionally submitting misleading or otherwise fraudulent reports of infringement may lead to termination of accounts as well as liability for damages under section 512(f) of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or similar laws in other countries.
Contact Information
Please note that a report alleging infringement or violation of legal rights must come from the rights owner or someone authorized to report on their behalf (ex: attorney, agent). If you are not the rights owner or their authorized representative, we will not be able to process your report. If you believe others' rights may be infringed by content on the site, you may wish to ask them to review the intellectual property section of the Help Center.

Please note that we regularly provide the rights owner's name, your email address and the nature of your report to the person who posted the content you are reporting. This person may contact you with the information you provide. You may wish to provide a valid generic business or professional email address for this reason.

Content You Want to Report
Typically, Instagram accounts contain many individual photos, videos, captions and comments. It’s uncommon for the copyrights in all these various objects to belong to one rights owner or infringe only one party’s copyrights. If you believe this account is infringing in its entirety, you may continue with this report.
For us to process your report, we need to know what content you believe to be infringing or violating your rights and where the specific content is located on Instagram. The best way to help us locate the content is to provide us with links (URLs) or broadcast IDs for that material. Please note that we may not be able to locate the content without this information.
You can get a link to a photo or video by going to the post in the app and tapping "..." above it. From the menu that appears, select Copy Link.
Alternatively, you can get a link to the post by viewing it on the web:
  1. Every Instagram account has a username, which you can find when visiting that account on the web or within the mobile app
  2. Once you know the username of the account in which the content is located, open a web browser and go to http://instagram.com/username
    • For example, if the username is "johnappleseed" go to http://instagram.com/johnappleseed
  3. Click on the photo(s) or video(s) you wish to report
  4. For each photo or video, copy the URL (located at the top of the browser) and paste it into your report. Please see the image below for an example URL.

Please note, appearing in content does not necessarily mean you own the copyright to that content. If you think a photo or video on Facebook might violate your image privacy rights, you can learn more by visiting the Help Center.
Please note, the use of a name does not necessarily violate copyright. In most countries, copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans or short phrases.
