Temporarily deactivate your Instagram account
If you temporarily deactivate your account, your profile, photos, comments and likes will be hidden until you reactivate it by logging back in. You can only deactivate your Instagram account from a computer, a mobile browser, or the Instagram app.
Keep in mind that you can only deactivate your account once a week.
You’ll need to be able to log into your account to temporarily deactivate it. If you can't remember your password or username, see some tips for logging in.
Temporarily deactivate your Instagram account from Accounts Center
  1. Tap profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap more options in the top right.
  3. Tap Accounts Center, then tap Personal details.
  4. Tap Account ownership and control, then tap Deactivation or deletion.
  5. Tap the account you'd like to temporarily deactivate.
  6. Tap Deactivate account, then tap Continue.
  7. Re-enter your password and tap Continue.
  8. Select the reason to deactivate account, then tap Continue.
  9. Tap Deactivate account.
Note: You may not be able to deactivate your account from Accounts Center at this time.
If you don't want to deactivate your account but want to change who can see it, you can set your posts to private or block people.
Note: Follow these instructions if you'd like to delete your Instagram account.
