Delete potential spam tag requests and disable tags from accounts that don’t follow you on Instagram
While anyone can tag you on Instagram, tags from accounts that could be spam won’t show on your profile without your approval. You can view tag requests that have been marked as potential spam and choose whether to approve or delete them. You also have the option to remove these tag requests in bulk.
If a tag request is marked as potential spam, you won’t be tagged in the post unless you approve the request. Tag requests marked as potential spam will be deleted after 30 days if no action is taken.
Delete or approve tag requests marked as potential spam
To delete or approve a potential spam tag request:
- Tap
or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap
in the top right, then tap Your activity.
- Tap Tags, then tap
in the top right.
- Select Potential spam to view spam posts that have requested to tag you.
- Tap Select in the top right, then tap posts to select them.
- Tap Delete to delete the tag requests, or tap Not spam to approve the tag requests.
Alternatively, you can review potential spam tag requests through your settings:
- Tap
- Tap
- Tap Tags and mentions, then tap Review tags.
- Tap
- Select Potential spam to view spam posts that have requested to tag you.
- Tap Select in the top right, then tap posts to select them.
- Tap Delete to delete the tag requests, or tap Not spam to approve the tag requests.
You can also tap Delete all requests, then tap Delete to remove all spam tag requests at once.
Enable or disable tags from accounts you don’t follow
To enable or disable tag requests from accounts you don’t follow:
- Tap
- Tap
- Tap Tags and mentions.
- Below Who can tag you, tap Allow tags from people you follow to only allow tags from people you’re following or Don’t allow tags to disable tagging completely.
Note: You can also choose to manually approve Instagram posts you're tagged in.
