Instagram Stars Terms of Use
These Stars Terms ("Stars Terms") apply to your purchase, access to, and use of certain digital content ("Stars") we may make available to Instagram users ("Users") to purchase from us to express appreciation for the content posted by certain creators and other publishers. These Stars Terms do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with us.
  1. Stars are not a currency, donation, or crowdfunding tool, have no monetary value, may not be sold or transferred to other Users, and cannot be exchanged for cash or for other goods or services.
  2. Stars are non-refundable.
  3. For clarity, to the extent you send Stars via another feature enabled on Instagram (such as “gifts”), you acknowledge that these Stars Terms apply.
  4. At our sole discretion, we may share revenue generated from the sale of Stars with eligible creators and publishers, according to the terms of agreements between Meta and such eligible creators and publishers. Stars are not intended as a means of allowing Users to pay or transfer monetary value to creators and publishers, and we do not guarantee that any creator or publisher will receive a revenue share.
  5. We may give you or you may receive promotional Stars, which are not a currency, have no monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are subject to the same restrictions as Stars generally. Additionally, promotional Stars may only be available to you for use for a limited time.
  6. We may change or stop offering Stars at any time at our sole discretion.
  7. Continued use of Stars requires an active Instagram app account. If you delete your account, you will forfeit any unused Stars, and those Stars will not be reinstated if you create a new Instagram app account.
  8. Payment for Stars is subject to our Community Payments Terms. On mobile, your purchase of Stars may also be subject to additional terms, depending on the method of in-app payments you use.
  9. You understand that the Stars you send (in other forms as applicable), in addition to your name and/or profile photo, may be publicly displayed in the recipients’ video, comments, or anywhere on their Instagram profile.
  10. Depending on your country of residence, aspects of this service may be owned, operated, or controlled by Meta Platforms, Inc., Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, or its affiliates. References to “Meta,” "us," "we," and "our" mean Meta Platforms, Inc. Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, or any related Meta affiliate.
Stars are part of the “Meta Products” under Instagram’s Terms of Use (“Instagram Terms”), and your use of Stars is deemed part of your use of Meta Products. In the event of any express conflict between these Star Terms and the Instagram Terms, these Stars Terms will govern solely with respect to your use of Stars and solely to the extent of the conflict. These Stars Terms do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with Meta. Meta reserves the right to update these terms from time to time, and your continued use of Stars constitutes acceptance of those changes.
