View, delete, or report hidden message requests on Instagram
Message requests that may be offensive, unwanted, contain spam or are hidden based on your Hidden Words preferences will appear in a separate Hidden requests folder. You won’t receive notifications for hidden message requests.
Manage hidden message requests
To manage hidden message requests:
  1. Tap send or messenger in the top right of Feed.
  2. Tap Requests in the top right, then tap Hidden requests.
  3. Tap Delete all at the bottom to delete all hidden message requests or tap the message thread you want to open.
  4. Tap or tap and hold a message to view. From here, you can tap:
    • Block or Leave and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • Delete and tap Delete again to confirm.
    • Accept. The conversation will be moved to your main messages folder.
Note that some message previews will be hidden based on your Hidden Words preferences.
Messages from accounts you’ve already connected with won’t be hidden even if they include offensive words, phrases or emoji. If someone you are connected with is sending you offensive messages, you can restrict them or block them.
What happens when you report a message in Hidden Requests
If you report a hidden message, the content of that message will be sent to our Help Team for review. The account you reported won’t see who reported them.
Keep in mind that your report is anonymous, except if you’re reporting an intellectual property infringement. The account you reported won’t see who reported them.
