Donate to a nonprofit fundraiser on Instagram

When someone creates a fundraiser for a nonprofit on Instagram, you can donate to the cause.
The fundraiser organizer and nonprofit will always see your username and how much you donated. When you donate, you’ll have the option to share more information including your username and amount with the fundraiser organizer, nonprofit, and your own followers.
Donate to a fundraiser on an Instagram post
  1. On Instagram, open the post with the fundraiser you want to donate to.
  2. In the banner on the right, tap next.
  3. Once in the fundraiser details page, tap Donate.
  4. Enter the amount you want to donate, then tap Continue.
  5. Tap Donation visibility and choose:
    • Hidden: Only you, the organizer, and the nonprofit will see your donation.
    • Username only: Only your username will be visible to you, the organizer, the nonprofit, and your followers.
    • Username and amount: Your username and donation amount will be visible to you, the organizer, the nonprofit, and your followers.
  6. Tap Continue.
  7. Enter your payment details.
  8. Tap Donate now.
Donate to a fundraiser on an Instagram bio
  1. On Instagram, open the bio of the person that created the fundraiser.
  2. Tap the name of the fundraiser.
  3. Once in the fundraiser details page, tap Donate.
  4. Enter the amount you want to donate, then tap Continue.
  5. Tap Donation visibility, and choose:
    • Hidden: Only you, the organizer, and the nonprofit will see your donation.
    • Username only: Only your username will be visible to you, the organizer, the nonprofit, and your followers.
    • Username and amount: Your username and donation amount will be visible to you, the organizer, the nonprofit, and your followers.
  6. Tap Continue.
  7. Enter your payment details.
  8. Tap Donate now.
You will see a pop-up that tells you that your donation was made. The donation will be visible in “Orders and Payments” on your Instagram account and you will be emailed a receipt from PayPal Giving Fund.
When you make donations to fundraisers on Instagram, your payment information is private and secure.
