Generative AI Editing Disclosures
Generative AI editing features, like Backdrop, allow you to edit photos of yourself using visual effects powered by AI and share the edited photos on Instagram. Users select the photo of themselves that they would like to edit from their photo roll. They can then enter a prompt, such as a description of a new style of photo they want, and the feature will create a new version of the photo based on that prompt. For example, users may be able to select a segment of the photo to retain and then enter a prompt to alter the background. This disclosure applies to Meta Platforms, Inc.’s (“we,” “us,” or “our”) processing of your information in connection with providing the Generative AI editing features.
When you choose to edit a photo of yourself through a Generative AI editing feature, our AI technology may collect information about your face and facial features as they appear in the photo, including their location, orientation, and topology in the photo. This information cannot be used to identify you. This information will be used for the sole purpose of generating an edited photo and will be promptly deleted after the edited photo is generated.
By enabling Generative AI editing features, you agree to the use of Generative AI editing features, and to the collection and use of your information as described above. You can always choose not to use these features and such information will not be collected and used. You further represent, warrant, and agree that you will not use Generative AI editing features to edit any photos in which a person other than you appears.
