Restore Instagram end-to-end encrypted chats with iCloud Drive
This option only works for iOS mobile devices. End-to-end encryption is only available in some areas.
If you stored a key in your iCloud Drive, you can automatically restore your end-to-end encrypted messages on iOS mobile devices connected to your Apple ID without entering your PIN.
Note: This option isn’t protected with end-to-end encryption. Learn more about restoring end-to-end encrypted messages for iOS devices.
Automatically restore your messages with iCloud Drive
- Log in to the same Apple ID you used to enable access to your chat history on other devices.
- Turn on iCloud Drive from your device settings.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Return to Instagram.
Keep in mind this only works for iOS devices, and not if you’re trying to restore your chats on a computer or Android device.
