Sync your profile information across your accounts
After your accounts are added to the same Accounts Center, you can choose to sync your name, profile picture, username and/or avatar across your Facebook, Instagram and/or Meta Horizon profiles. Syncing your profile information allows you to make updates across your profiles simultaneously. You can also create new profiles using information from your other existing profiles.
You don’t have to sync your profile information with another account to sign up for Facebook or Instagram. You can choose whether to sync your profile picture, username and/or avatar across your profiles, but in order to sync profile information you need to sync your name.
If you choose to sync your profile information, you can decide to unsync it later.

What it means to sync your profile information:

  • If you sync profile information across your Facebook, Instagram or Meta Horizon profiles, changes you make to your profile information (such as your name, username, profile picture and avatar) will appear across all of your profiles with synced info. For example, when you change your avatar on Facebook or Instagram, it will change for both profiles.
  • If you remove an account from an Accounts Center, your profile info for profiles in that account will no longer sync.
  • You can’t sync information from one profile to another between profiles on the same app (for example, you can’t sync two Instagram profiles, two Facebook profiles, or two Meta Horizon profiles).

Syncing your name:

  • Before you can sync your profile picture, username or avatar, you need to sync your name. This means that:
    • When you sync your name, your name will become the same across all of the profiles you’ve chosen to sync.
    • People will be able to see and search for you with this name on the apps (Facebook, Instagram and/or Meta Horizon) where you've chosen to sync profile information.
    • People may also see suggestions (like to add you as a friend or to follow you) associated with this name on the apps (Facebook, Instagram and/or Meta Horizon) where you've chosen to sync profile information.

Syncing your profile picture:

  • If you choose to sync your profile picture, your picture will become the same across all of the profiles you’ve chosen to sync.
  • Note that your previous Instagram profile pictures are not saved. If you choose to sync your profile picture (and use a Facebook profile picture for your Facebook and Instagram accounts) if you turn off profile syncing, your previous Instagram profile picture will not appear.

Syncing your username:

  • If you choose to sync your username, your username will become the same across all of the profiles you’ve chosen to sync. This means:
    • People will be able to see and search for you with this username on the apps (Facebook, Instagram and/or Meta Horizon) where you've chosen to sync profile information.
    • People may also see suggestions (like to add you as a friend or to follow you) associated with this username on the apps (Facebook, Instagram and/or Meta Horizon) where you've chosen to sync profile information.
  • To sync your usernames, the username you choose must be available on each app.

Syncing your avatar:

When you sync your avatar, you can choose to use either your Facebook or Instagram avatar across your profiles. The default avatar will be the avatar from the app you're currently using.
