Troubleshoot Boosting Instagram Stories
If you are unable to boost your story, it may be due to the following:
  • Aspect ratio is not 9:16 or between 4:5 and 1.91:1. If you're having trouble capturing a story with the correct aspect ratio, we recommend taking the story with the camera in the Instagram App.
  • Includes tappable elements. You can use up to five of the following interactive elements: location sticker, hashtag sticker, tappable text and @mention stickers. Or you can use one countdown sticker. You can only use the polling sticker on ads that are created without a pre-existing post. However, you should avoid using emojis, GIFs, music stickers, link stickers, more than one sticker and more complex creative tools.
    Note: You can't boost a story that has a link sticker. To link to a website in your Stories ad on Instagram, you can add a call-to-action. Instagram Stories ads support a default CTA link sticker, placed at the bottom of your ad.
  • Out of date. If you're boosting an image or video that has been shared in the past, it may not be able to be boosted.
Note: Some creative tools are not available to be used as part of an ad creative (for example: music stickers, GIFs, etc.)
