What to do if your Instagram account posts unauthorized content
If your account is leaving comments or sharing things that you haven't posted, your password may be compromised. Additionally, if inauthentic activity is detected on your account, you may see an error message that says, “Try again later” when using Instagram.
If you can log in to your account, there are several things you can do to secure your account:
- Change your password or send yourself a password reset email. Be sure to pick a strong and unique password. Use a combination of at least six numbers, letters and special characters (like !$@%), and try to avoid repetition. Note: Whenever you change your Instagram password, any devices logged into your Instagram account will automatically be logged out and you’ll need to sign in again.
- Revoke access to any suspicious third-party apps. You should never share your login information with an app you don’t trust. If you give these apps your login information, whether with an access token or by giving them your username and password, they can gain complete access to your account.
- Turn on two-factor authentication for additional account security.
- Confirm your phone number and email address in account settings are correct.
- Check Accounts Center and remove any linked accounts you don’t recognize.

Beware of scams
Be careful before giving third party apps or websites access to your Instagram account. In particular, you shouldn’t use apps that offer likes and followers in exchange for your Instagram login details. These websites and apps are likely attempts to use your account in an inappropriate way.
