If you're based in or intend to target audiences in the US and want to create an ad campaign that relates to credit, employment, housing, social issues or political ads, you must choose the category that best describes your ads from the
Special Ad Category dropdown menu.
Boost an Instagram story
To boost an active Instagram story:
- Go to your profile.
- Tap your profile picture to access your story.
- At the bottom of the story's image or video, tap Boost.
- Select Boost from the options.
- Fill in the details of your ad by setting things like Audience (who you want to reach), Budget (how much you want to spend) and Duration (how long you want your ad to run). Tap Next (iOS) or
(Android) once you've completed these details. - To complete your ad, tap Create ad.
You'll receive a notification in your Activity Feed after you submit an ad for review, when it's getting reviewed, if it's approved or disapproved and when the campaign ends.
Stories that are boosted will run for as long as you set the duration for. The active story on your profile will expire after 24 hours, however the boost story will still run as an ad. You can also use the boost button for archived and highlighted stories.
