Businesses, shopping partners and qualified public Instagram accounts in the US can add shopping tags to Instagram posts from brands with shops on Instagram. Learn more
about shopping tags on Instagram.
During creation, you can tag up to 20 products per post. You can tag products in both new and existing posts on your Instagram account. Learn how to
edit or delete product tags.
Before you begin
- If you're a business, you must be approved and set up for Instagram Shopping.
- If you’re 18 years old or older with a qualified and public Instagram account, you’re able to tag products:
- If your account is active over the past 30 days and has no more than 2 policy violations.
- Or, if a business has approved your access to tag their products as a shopping partner or affiliate creator. Go to Account Settings to confirm that you’re added as a shopping partner or affiliate creator with permission to tag products.
- Learn how to manage how people use your product tags on their Instagram posts.
- If you have a shop, products tagged in your posts will automatically be added to your shop.
Your tagged products are displayed on the post.
If you're an eligible seller with an active promotional offer tied to the tagged product, the promotion is automatically tagged. The post's call-to-action bar changes to View Offer or View Sale depending on the promotion type that you select in Commerce Manager. You can remove the promotion from the post by tapping the call-to-action bar and then tapping X to remove.
Insights from shopping partners are available in Instagram and can be downloaded by the business account until the product or tag is removed. Insights from people that tag products, but are not designated as shopping partners, are not available at this time. If a business removes a shopping partner from their list of accounts approved for product tagging, they can still see insights about the photo or video unless the post is deleted or the product tag is removed.
