We are committed to being transparent about how Instagram works. As these guidelines evolve, we will continue to be transparent about how we treat content in Feed and Stories.

Some content may be problematic, whether or not it’s intended that way. We remove posts that go against our Community Guidelines. We also take action against posts that we predict likely go against our Community Guidelines, but that we have not yet confirmed to be a violation, to show those posts lower in Feed and Stories. This includes, but is not limited to, content we predict may go against our guidelines on:

To understand if a post is likely to go against our Community Guidelines, we use technology to look at things like if the caption is similar to a caption that previously went against our guidelines. We’re constantly improving our systems to be more precise, and to ensure our enforcement is as accurate as possible.

We’re committed to reducing the spread of misinformation, particularly clear hoaxes that have no basis in fact. When one of our fact-checking partners rates a post as False, Altered or Partly False, it will show lower in Feed and Stories so fewer people see it. On Feed and Stories, content from accounts may also be shown lower if they repeatedly post content rated as false information by one of our independent third-party fact-checking partners, or go against our COVID-19 and Vaccine Policies.

We remove misinformation and unverifiable rumors under our Community Guidelines when they are likely to directly contribute to a risk of imminent violence or physical harm.

Keep in mind that your reports are anonymous, except if you’re reporting an intellectual property infringement. The account you reported won’t see who reported them.
