Authorization requirements that may impact financial services advertisers on Instagram
To help prevent fraud and impersonation in financial products or services advertising, Meta may ask you to provide additional information to confirm that your business is authorized by the relevant regulatory body to advertise financial products or services. These requirements are intended to promote consumer safety.
Examples of requirements include:
UK financial services advertiser verification: Any advertiser that would like to run ads promoting financial products or services that target UK audiences needs to be authorized with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). To learn more, visit the FCA website.
Confirm your FCA authorization status
If you try to publish an ad on Instagram that promotes a financial product or service to audiences in the UK and see a message that says your ad was rejected because it doesn’t comply with Meta’s policy for financial services advertisers, you may need to confirm that you are authorized by the FCA before you can publish your ad.
If you’re an advertiser who doesn’t have a Meta ad account, you’ll need to connect your Instagram account to one before you can start the verification process and confirm your FCA authorization. You can do this by boosting an ad on Instagram with a Meta ad account.
To confirm your FCA authorization:
  1. Make sure your Instagram account is linked to a Meta ad account.
  2. Run your ad again from your Meta ad account in Ads Manager. (You can also do this from Instagram.) You will receive a notification in Ads Manager that asks you to confirm your FCA authorization status.
  3. Complete the verification process and confirm your FCA authorization. For help with the verification process, follow these instructions.
