Share a photo or video to your Instagram story
To share a photo or video to your story:
Instagram app for Android and iPhone
  1. Tap create new at the top or swipe right anywhere in Feed.
  2. Scroll to Story at the bottom.
  3. Tap at the bottom of the screen to take a photo, or tap and hold to record a video. To choose a photo or video from your phone's gallery or camera roll, swipe up anywhere on the screen. You may see gallery suggestions to help you choose what to share.
  4. Tap draw, or to draw, add text or a sticker to your photo or video. To remove text or a sticker, drag and drop it on at the bottom of the screen.
  5. When you're ready to share, tap Your Story in the bottom left.
Instagram Lite app for Android
  1. Tap record in the top left.
  2. Tap at the bottom of the screen to take a photo. To choose a photo from your phone's gallery or camera roll, tap on the photo to the left. You may see gallery suggestions to help you choose what to share
  3. Tap draw, or to draw, add text or a sticker to your photo. To remove a sticker, tap on the sticker, then tap .
  4. When you're ready to share, tap Add to Story in the bottom left.
Note: Stories disappear from your profile, Feed and Direct inbox after 24 hours, unless you add them to your profile as story highlights.
If you give Instagram permission to access your device's gallery or camera roll, we collect metadata in or about the media (such as the date and time of the content) to enable features like suggestions for stories.
