Exposed Private Information
It's important to note that though you may believe certain information is private, not all content of this type is in violation of our terms.
Reporting private information posted on Instagram
If someone has posted your private information on Instagram, we'd suggest communicating directly with that person to ask that they take it down. Alternatively, if someone requests that you remove their private information, we ask that you respect their privacy and remove the content before your account is reported to Instagram.
Reporting photos and videos that violate your privacy
If you believe a photo or video violates your privacy, you can report it to us. We'll remove posts that you report as unauthorized if this is required by relevant privacy laws in your country, as long as the reported content involves you, your child (under 13) or another person for whom you're the legal representative or guardian. Photos or videos involving anyone else will need to be reported by the individual themselves.
It's important to note that we can't take down private information that's posted publicly somewhere other than Instagram. Additionally, we can only take action on private information if it's associated with the person reporting it or we receive documentation that the reporter is authorized to act on behalf of the person whose private information has been posted.
Keep in mind that your report is anonymous, except if you’re reporting an intellectual property infringement. The account you reported won’t see who reported them.
Protecting your private information
We strongly suggest you take caution when giving out your information online, especially your credit card number, private address, location or telephone number. People aren't always who they claim to be in their biography, and you should be cautious of anyone who asks for your personal information, private contact information or password.
