Supervision on Threads
Supervision is a set of tools and insights that parents and guardians can use to help support their teens (ages 13-17) on Threads.
If you have supervision set up in Family Center for Instagram, it’ll automatically be set up for Threads and your Instagram supervision settings will apply to Threads. If you haven’t set up supervision, you’ll need to set it up on Instagram.
For Teens
Your parent will be able to see the following information:
- Time on Threads
- Daily time limit
- Scheduled breaks
- Followers and following
- Profile privacy
- Sensitive content control
- Blocked accounts
For Parents
To see information about your teen, tap their Instagram profile in Family Center.
You’ll see the following information about your teen:
- Time on Threads: You’ll see one chart with time your teen spent on both Threads and Instagram.
- Daily time limit: Time on both Threads and Instagram will count towards the limit.
- Scheduled breaks: You can select specific days and times for a scheduled break. During a scheduled break, your teen won’t be able to use Threads on any device. Keep in mind, teens can still access their settings during a scheduled break.
- Followers and following
- Notification setting: Your teens notification settings apply to both Threads and Instagram. You’ll be notified of new followers and accounts being followed through Instagram.
- List: You’ll see the three most recent connections across both Threads and Instagram and a separate list of followers and following for each.
- Profile privacy: Your teen’s profile privacy setting for Threads may be different from their account setting on Instagram.
- Sensitive content control: This setting is shared across Instagram and Threads. If your teen updates this setting on Instagram, it'll also be updated for Threads.
- Blocked accounts: You’ll see the accounts blocked for both Threads and Instagram
Note that changing some of these settings will apply to both Threads and Instagram. Some settings, like who can message your teen and who can add your teen to a messaging group, do not apply to Threads.
