When you add multiple devices to two-factor authentication on a single Instagram account, you’ll get a 6-digit login code from the authentication app on that device.
Keep in mind that one device will need to set up two-factor authentication through an authentication app first before other devices can be added. Any additional devices will also need to download an authentication app before connecting to two-factor authentication.
To set up two-factor authentication on additional devices:
- From the device you’d like to add, download a third-party authentication app (example: Duo Mobile, Apple Passwords, or Google Authenticator), then open the Instagram app from that device.
Tap

or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
Tap

in the top right, then tap
Settings and privacy.
- Tap Security, then tap Two-Factor Authentication.
- Tap
next to Authentication App, then tap Add. - Name the device you’re adding, then tap Next.
- Tap Copy Key and paste it into your authentication app.
- After your Instagram account is linked to your authentication app, copy the 6-digit code your authentication app creates.
- Go back to the Instagram app, tap Next and paste the 6-digit code to complete the process on that device.
Keep in mind that you can add up to five connected devices to two-factor authentication for a single Instagram account and you can remove a connected device at any time.
To remove a connected device from two-factor authentication:
Tap

or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
Tap

in the top right, then tap
Settings and privacy.
- Tap Security, then tap Two-Factor Authentication.
- Tap
to the right of the device you’d like to remove. - Tap Remove. Note: Removing the connected device from two-factor authentication does not log it out from your account.
Note: Your Instagram key can also be used if you use multiple authentication apps on the same device. To do this, follow the steps above on the same device.
