First steps
If you're experiencing an issue that isn't covered in our Known Issues forum, please follow these troubleshooting steps. It is important to note that you should always make sure you are running the latest version of your operating system and Instagram prior to following these steps.
Restart your device
Always try this first if you are having trouble with Instagram. To restart your device:
Apple iOS devices
- Hold the button at the top of the phone until the red slider appears
- Slide the red power button off
- Wait about 30 seconds, then hold the top button again to turn your phone back on
Android
- Hold down the lock button on your device until you see Phone options
- Tap Power Off
- Hold down the lock button to turn your device back on
Uninstall and reinstall
If restarting your device doesn't help, try deleting and reinstalling Instagram:
Apple iOS devices
- From the Home screen, tap and hold the app icon until it shakes
- Tap the X on the app to delete it (your photos + profile info will be saved by Instagram)
- Go to the App Store and reinstall Instagram, then log in with your username and password
Android
- Navigate to the Settings application
- Locate and tap on Applications > Manage Applications > Instagram > Uninstall
Check Internet connection
If the last two steps don't help, please try using Instagram both on WiFi and on 3G to verify that the issue is not related to a weak WiFi or 3G connection.
Still no luck?
If these three steps didn't solve your issue, continue on to see if you're experiencing a known issue. If you can't find your answer there, we'll have you submit a bug report, so we can investigte.
