Add text to your reel

When creating a reel on Instagram, you can add text to it.

Begin creating a reel on Instagram.
After recording a reel or choosing a clip to add to your reel, tap at the top right.
Type in your text, then choose how you want your text to be shown.
At the top, tap the options for your text’s alignment , color , highlighting , and animation.
On the left, swipe up and down to change your text’s size.
At the bottom, swipe left and right to change your text’s font.
Once you’re happy with your text, tap Done.
Tap and drag your text to move it.

Add audio to your text using text-to-speech

After you add text to a reel on Instagram, you can add audio to your text with text-to-speech.

Add text to your reel.
At the bottom, tap the text you want to add text-to-speech audio to.
Tap Text-to-Speech at the bottom.
Swipe through the voice options, and tap to preview.
- You can select from different text-to-speech voices, and preview the sounds before committing.
Once you’re happy with your audio, tap to select the voice you want to use and tap Done.
- If you no longer want to use text-to-speech, you can select None or Cancel.

Note: Text-to-speech is currently only available in English in select countries where captions are available:
